Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group

Metropolitan Waste and Resource Recovery Group mini-documentary series

A mini-documentary series empowering local communities to tackle litter

The Metropolitan Waste Resource Recovery Group (MWRRG) is a Victorian government statutory body responsible for coordinating and facilitating the delivery of municipal solid waste management across 31 metropolitan local government areas in Melbourne.

The Litter Hotspots (LHS) Program was developed by the MWRRG – in partnership with the Department of Land, Environment, Water and Planning and funded through the Victorian Government's Sustainability Fund – to build partnerships and deliver 35 targeted litter prevention projects across the Port Phillip Bay catchment.

We were engaged by MWRRG to develop a series of short and engaging micro-documentary films to share key learnings from the Litter Hotspots Program.

We partnered with award-winning documentary filmmaker Michael Lutman to execute the series, consisting of three individual films, as well as a combined film which highlighted successes across the program. Key audiences for the films include community/project officers and local government decision makers responsible for delivering litter prevention and water quality projects as well as key state government agencies.

We were responsible for the end-to-end production of the series of films – from pre-production and pre-interviews with respective local groups, to storyboarding, filming and all post-production.
